It’s our first proper post of the year, and we’re kicking things off with a 2015 bridal trend report. If you’re recently engaged (congrats!) and about to embark on your gown hunt, here’s all the 2015 bridal fashion trends you need to know.
The Illusion Silhouette
Is it a sheath or a ball gown? Empire or mermaid? Blur the (A-)line with ethereal sheer overlays. You’ve heard of illusion necklines and illusion sleeves, let’s welcome the illusion silhouette.
Off the Shoulder, Off the Charts
The super elegant off-the-shoulder neckline has always been a mainstay of many contemporary bridal collections. Thanks to Amal Clooney’s Oscar de la Renta gown, shoulder baring necklines will receive even more attention in 2015.
Take the Plunge…
Necklines are taking a dip into the deep V. Not a fan of baring your decolletage? A lace insert or modesty panel keeps your cleavage (mostly) hidden. Or consider the plunging neckline’s cousin, the open back.
…Or Go High
On the flipside, high illusion necklines are also seen in a lot of 2015 bridal collections.
The Train Has Arrived
Scalloped, ruffled or multi-textured, exquisitely-detailed trains make for a stunning entrance and exit.
The minimally embellished gown is super chic and modern, and works well with more dramatic accessories (like the bridal cape!).
A Good Back Story
What’s better than an blinged out bodice? Why a lavishly beaded back, of course!
The Mid-back Strap
The new twist to the keyhole back involves a strap across the middle of the back (where the back bra-strap lies).
Romantic crocheted details adorn many 2015 wedding dresses.
Short Wedding Dresses with Sleeves
Short wedding dresses aren’t exactly a new trend but you’ll notice that there are more short gowns with sleeves now.
Wedding Highs and Lows
Can’t decide between a short and floor length wedding gown? Why not both? Say hello to the high-low mullet skirt.
